Numismatist and Founder of numindex

Michael M. Zagorowski (*1979) studied International Tax Law in Villingen-Schwenningen, Munich and Lyon. After completing his studies, he went on to work for an asset management firm in Zurich, first as product manager in the tax department, then as project leader of an operative unit and in the IT department. After 17 years on the job, he turned his hobby into a profession and has been working as a numismatist at SINCONA Group (Swiss International Coin Auction AG) in Zurich since 2020.

Since 2018, he has been in charge of the finances of the Freie Vereinigung Zürcher Numismatiker (FVZN, Free Association of Zurich Numismatists), and was elected to the board of Numismatischer Verein Zürich (NVZ, Numismatic Association of Zurich).

Michael Zagorowski is highly interested in the digitalisation of the numismatic world and the goal of arousing numismatic interest in young people. He authored articles on the subjects, which were published, for example, in the numismatic magazine Numismatisches Nachrichtenblatt.

Another of his fields of interest is money from the Litzmannstadt Ghetto in today’s city of Lodz, a topic to which he dedicated several articles in German and Polish.

In the spring of 2023, Michael Zagorowski called numindex into being. Similar to a stock index, the numismatic index numindex shows how coin prices performed over the past years. The index will regularly be updated in the future.
