Inclusive Numismatics Conference
The inclusive numismatics group calls all collectors and detectorists, students and teachers, enthusiasts and researchers, and all those curious about coins and banknotes! You’re warmly invited to the Bank of England on 15 September 2023 for a remarkable day of talks and discussions, all connected to numismatics!
To create a day full of new ideas and information, the organisers want to hear from a range of speakers who are excited about the stories that money can tell. The day is imagined to include a range of different talks of different lengths, from ten-minute lightning talks, to longer papers (20 minutes) with time for discussion. As many people have missed out on networking in recent years, discussion-based sessions are being planned as well.
An excellent programme needs excellent participants, so please use this form to indicate what topic you’d like to talk about and how long for. Some ideas get to you started include:
- “Curious coins” – what’s the quirkiest coin in your collection? We’d all love to know
- “Thorny problems” – struggling with an ID? Let’s help each other out
- “New perspectives” – fresh ideas keep us all engaged
The organisers want to hear from people who have a story about money to tell, whether that’s from personal interest or professional research. The day is organised by the inclusive numismatics group, and they want to create a space where women, people of colour, those from the LGBTQ+ community and anyone who has not yet found the right forum for their passion to feel included. To enable this the event is free, catering is provided and a number of bursaries for travel costs are available.
