New CIT Issue: Reconstruction – Elephant
With the Reconstruction series, CIT presents a new type of coin design, showcasing once again the ingenious way in which B. H. Mayer’s Kunstprägeanstalt transforms the demanding designs of the Liechtenstein innovators into minted objects.

Description of the Coin
One side shows an elephant’s head from the front, made up of slightly offset segments. The bar-like segments break through the upper edge to alter the very shape of the coin. To the right the legend SAVANNA POWER 2024. In the background decorative patterns that are reminiscent of ethnic art.
The other side depicts the portrait of Charles III by Dan Thorne (initials DT); around it 10 DOLLARS / Charles III / COOK ISLANDS, surrounded by more African-style patterns.
Cook Islands. 10 Dollars 2024. Silver .9999. 2 oz. 45 mm. Proof. Mintage figure: 999 pieces.
Background
Maximum precision and fine-tuning of every step in the minting process is required to create the sophisticated, ultra-high relief of the deconstructed elephant’s head. It is simply brilliant to see how the sharp edges are combined with a fine pattern that is reminiscent of elephant skin. But this coin is packed with even more technical refinement! It presents a completely new kind of special shape minting. B. H. Mayer’s experienced engineers had to develop entirely new tools in order to create the edge – which is partly round, and partly step-like. A usual minting collar cannot be used for this purpose.
Reconstruction – Elephant is therefore a must for lovers of innovative minting technology. And we can already look forward to seeing how the creative minds at CIT will further incorporate this new technology into their designs.
