Space Premiere – Mint of Poland Created the World’s First Flying Coin
The Mint of Poland presented the UFO MP-1766 at the World Money Fair 2024, which is said to be the first flying coin in the World. The coin is lifted by an internal motor and, upon interaction with a specially designed base, it levitates due to the magnetic field generated between them.
Sir Winston Churchill at 150: Highlights From the J. Eric Engstrom Medal Collection
Last November, Winston Churchill would have turned 150 years old. To mark the occasion, the Heberden Coin Room at the Ashmolean is displaying pieces from their rich collection of medals related to Churchill, most of which come from the J. Eric Engstrom Collection of Churchill Medals.
More Than 2,000 Medieval Denarii Discovered in Czechia
It is said to be one of the most important Czech coin hoards of the last 10 years: more than 2,000 coins from the period around 1100 have been discovered near Kutná Hora. The find dates from a time of conflict between members of the Přemyslid dynasty for control of the Prague princely throne.
CoinFindsViewer – Roman Coin Finds in Southern Germany
Recently a new numismatic project went online: the CoinFindsViewer represents the first large-scale visualization of Roman coin find data in southern Germany. It enables users to interactively explore the dataset along the Roman frontier, the Limes, and its hinterland across various historical periods.
