Johann Berner is CEO of CIT Coin Invest AG, a leading company in the premium segment based in Liechtenstein. Under his leadership, CIT promotes innovative technologies such as smartminting® and drives the global expansion of the brand.
Under Johann’s leadership, CIT has continued to build on its established position as a global leader in numismatics, maintaining its commitment to innovation. The company’s dedication to quality and cutting-edge designs has further solidified its leadership in the industry, with a growing global presence.
This success is the result of a strong strategic vision, pioneering spirit, and the shared dedication of Johann and the other CIT’s Board of Directors – Jeanette Berner, Mauritius Joos, and Raphael Wyss. Together, they are united in their pursuit of excellence and innovation, working collaboratively with a passionate team to ensure that CIT remains at the cutting edge of numismatic technology and customer satisfaction.
Johann’s passion for coin collecting began in his childhood, sparking a curiosity that has stayed with him throughout his life. However, his teenage years were filled with a desire to explore the world, leading him to pursue a career in the tourism and hospitality industry. Though his first job didn’t take him far from home, it brought him to the picturesque country of Liechtenstein. It was here that Johann met Jeanette (daughter of former CIT CEO Michael Vogt), and their connection quickly blossomed into a lasting relationship.
His time in the hospitality industry was invaluable. Johann’s ambition was far-reaching, and eager to achieve more, he sought to expand his horizons. Alongside Jeanette, he enrolled in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship studies at the University of Liechtenstein. During their time at university, Jeanette worked for CIT, which sparked Johann’s interest in the company. Inspired by CIT’s innovative work, he made the decision to join the company after graduation, eager to contribute and shape his future within it.
As CEO since 2022, Johann has steered CIT to new heights, ensuring it remains innovative while staying true to its legacy of excellence. During his time in hospitality, Johann developed a strong service mentality, which, combined with his passion for travel and a deep appreciation for the power of networking, has made him an excellent ambassador and leader at CIT.
Johann’s commitment to both innovation and strong partnerships is further exemplified by the creation of the 2kg Matterhorn silver coin with Switzerland as the issuing country—a stunning example of CIT’s technical and artistic capabilities.
Looking ahead, Johann continues to focus on CIT’s future growth, driving the company forward with a clear vision, dedication to excellence, and a collaborative spirit that ensures CIT’s continued success in the ever-evolving numismatic market.
