Peter Ilisch (1947–2023)
Peter Ilisch passed away on 29 May 2023. The former curator in Münster specialised in medieval and early modern Westphalia. As an obituary, we publish the speech of Stefan Kötz, who paid tribute to his predecessor in office at the funeral service.
Archaeological State Collection in Munich Reopened
After eight years of renovation, the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection shines in new splendor. Since April 17, 2024, the doors are once again open to visitors from all over the world. The new exhibition rooms were planned and designed by Atelier Brückner.

Faust Vrančić: The Croatian Leonardo
Croatia issues two new collector coins as part of its “Croatian Innovators” series. They are dedicated to Faust Vrančić, a Croatian polymath whose parachute design, published in his 1595 book “Machinae novae”, is the first appearance of this device in a printed work.
The First Ultra High Relief Coin with Partial Gilding of the Croatian Mint
On 24 January 2024, two “Trsat Dragon” collector coins were released. A new issue featuring the same motif has been added to the successful series on 14 November: the Croatian Mint presents its first coin with ultra high relief and with partial gilding.
