Our Event Sites for the Coin Fairs in Basel and Munich

On the last weekend in February and the first weekend in March, two coin fairs took place that we didn’t want to miss: First the Basel Coin Fair, then the NUMISMATA in Munich. You can find our impressions of the fairs on two event sites.

A great piece of news: Over 6,000 volumes primarily on ancient numismatics from the S&S Library will be digitized and made available for everyone through the Newman Numismatic Portal.

NICAC Raises Concerns Over 2026 World Cup Commemorative Coins

The Numismatic Industry Coinage Advisory Committee (NICAC) released a report expressing concerns with legislation authorizing the minting of coins commemorating the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The First Piece of Mail Sent Using a Stamp to Be Offered at Sotheby’s

A Penny Black affixed to a Mulready envelope is among the most valuable items in Philately ever offered at auction. The earliest posted envelope using a prepaid stamp, dating to 1840, will be sold at Sotheby’s with an estimate of $1.5–2.5 million.
The seals were primarily created by casting copper and consist of open form and closed form geometric and human/animal designs.
