Royal Dutch Mint and Osborne Coinage Join the Heimerle + Meule Group

It was only recently that we posted about the acquisition of Reischauer by the Heimerle + Meule Group – but the next big announcement follows right away: the company acquired all shares in the Royal United Mint, who is the parent company of well-known businesses like the Royal Dutch Mint and Osborne Coinage.

From August 2023, the Coin of the Year awards will be presented during the World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh.

COTY Awards Have an In-Person Ceremony Again

For many years the Coin of the Year Awards have been given in a ceremony during the World Money Fair in Berlin. In 2023, the program will conduct again an in-person awards ceremony after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic – but in another place.

Archaeological State Collection in Munich Reopened

After eight years of renovation, the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection shines in new splendor. Since April 17, 2024, the doors are once again open to visitors from all over the world. The new exhibition rooms were planned and designed by Atelier Brückner.

In the context of Künker’s phaleristic sale at the end of October, the Osnabrück auction house will present orders from the estate of Carl Theodor Duke in Bavaria. Carl Theodor is one of the most interesting figures of Bavarian history. In contrast to his famous sister Sisi, he managed to live a fulfilled and self-determined life – as an eye specialist.

Silver for Württemberg

In the early modern period, much of the Black Forest, an idyllic mountain range in southwestern Germany, was a booming industrial center. A major part of the silver used to mint Württemberg coins came from this region. The Heinz-Falk Gaiser Collection, on offer at Künker on 23 September 2024, includes many coins made from Black Forest silver.
