51st Auction by Münzen & Medaillen GmbH Rescheduled
The 51st auction of Münzen & Medaillen GmbH in Weil am Rhein will no longer take place as originally planned on November 4, 2024. The new auction date is December 4, 2024.
Baldrs Horse: Detectorist Makes “Find of the Century” in Norway
On the Norwegian island of Rennesøy, a metal detectorist recently made an extraordinary gold find that was buried long before the Viking Age. The nine coin-like gold pendants engraved with rare horse symbols discovered along with ten gold beads and three gold rings are the first find of this kind in Norway since the 19th century.

A Discovery From Jülich-Berg
New coin varieties are not so uncommon, but a new denomination really is. Joachim Stollhoff has found a 6 Albus light of the Duchy of Jülich-Berg minted in 1640. The coin will be offered in the forthcoming auction of Münzen & Medaillen GmbH.

Training Exercise for Cultural Heritage Response Unit
The German Archaeological Institute (DAI), in cooperation with the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), is building an emergency response unit to provide rapid assistance in the event of disasters around the world. In a fictious earthquake scenario, experts were recently trained in how to protect and preserve cultural heritage.
