Classical Numismatic Group presents Part II of The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins, in association with Numismatica Ars Classica and Numismatica Genevensis SA, to be held live in Zurich on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, at the Hotel Baur au Lac, Taltrasse 1, 8001, Zurich. The sale will begin at 16:15 CET (10:15 AM EST.) Online pre-bids will be accepted through Monday, 2 December 2024, at 2:00 AM EST.

With a pre-sale estimate of 800,000 CHF, the auction offers a superb array of 313 gold, silver, copper and bronze coins, featuring numerous great rarities of the British series. Among the many highlights included are an impressive Oxford mint Triple Unite of Charles I, a marvelously pedigreed “cartouche” type silver Pound, and the famous “Reddite” Crown by Thomas Simon – the companion to the Petition Crown sold in part I.

Lot 1106: Charles I. 1625-1649. AV Triple Unite. Declaration type. Oxford mint; im: plumelet/–. Dated 1644. An impressive coin, crisply struck on a full flan. Some light smoothing marks in obverse field. Otherwise toned with traces of lustre. EF. A very rare Triple Unite: one of only five known. Estimate: $60,000.

A most pleasing example of this wonderful type. Very well struck. Deep old tone. Near EF. Very rare and with a marvellous pedigree. Estimate: $60,000.

Lot 1110: Charles I. 1625-1649. AR Pound (51mm, 120.06 g, 4h). Declaration type. Oxford mint; mm: plume/–. ‘Cartouche’ type. Dies by T. Rawlins. Dated 1644. A most pleasing example of this wonderful type. Very well struck. Deep old tone. Near EF. Very rare and with a marvellous pedigree. Estimate: $60,000.

Lot 1179: Charles II. 1660-1685. Pattern Pewter Crown – The ‘Reddite’ Crown (21.72 g, 12h). By Thomas Simon. Dated 1663. Small flaw on cheek and in centre of reverse. Minor other marks, otherwise toned with some original colour. In NGC encapsulation 2153882-005, graded AU 58. An extremely rare pewter striking of this famous pattern crown. Estimate: $25,000.

Lot 1179: Charles II. 1660-1685. Pattern Pewter Crown – The ‘Reddite’ Crown (21.72 g, 12h). By Thomas Simon. Dated 1663. Small flaw on cheek and in centre of reverse. Minor other marks, otherwise toned with some original colour. In NGC encapsulation 2153882-005, graded AU 58. An extremely rare pewter striking of this famous pattern crown. Estimate: $25,000.
