Visitors to the beautiful city of Rijeka are familiar with the two basilisks that stand guard on the Trsat hill in front of Count Laval Nugent of Westmeath’s mausoleum. The Croatian Mint dedicates a gold and a silver commemorative coin to these mythical creatures.
Space Premiere – Mint of Poland Created the World’s First Flying Coin
The Mint of Poland presented the UFO MP-1766 at the World Money Fair 2024, which is said to be the first flying coin in the World. The coin is lifted by an internal motor and, upon interaction with a specially designed base, it levitates due to the magnetic field generated between them.

Washington University Presents Seven Numismatic Exhibits
Washington University’s Olin Library announces seven numismatic exhibits that are now open to the public and will run through July 7, 2024. The library features such exhibits on a rotating basis, with recent installations covering the history of play money, World War II internment camp issues, and other subjects. In addition to exhibits, the library’s numismatic mission includes the administration of the Newman Numismatic Portal.
Call for Papers: AIA Annual Meeting 2025
