Minerva Magazine Ceased Publishing

The archaeological journal Minerva, founded in 1990, will discontinue its service with its last issue in July/August 2023. The reason for this, it says, are the lingering effects of the pandemic and increased costs. The last issue can be downloaded for free.

2022 Biggest Year for Treasure Finds in the UK

Earlier this year, the British Museum launched the latest Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) Annual Report. This showed that in 2022, over 50,000 archaeological finds were recorded, including 1,378 Treasure cases – the highest ever reported in a single year. See some of the highlights here.

ACCG Requests Information About Closed Roundtable Regarding Extra-Legal MOU With Yemen

Following a closed roundtable, the US State Department signed an MOU criticized for being completed without input from the Cultural Property Advisory Committee or the opportunity for public comment. Die Ancient Coin Collectors Guild (ACCG) sees an effort to stifle debate and has submitted a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request to the State Department.

Oh Dear, I Think I’m Becoming a God! Numismatic Testaments to the Consecration of Roman Emperors

On 31 October 2024, Künker will auction off part 9 of the Dr. W.R. Collection. It presents Roman coins from the period between the civil war of 68/9 and the end of the Severan dynasty. The diverse material illustrates the numismatic traces of the consecration of Roman emperors.
For the obverse of the 2022 20-Francs commemorative coin “Mani Matter”, various patterns were created, most of which are unique. They will be offered this fall at SINCONA.
