Stack’s Bowers Galleries has auctioned Part II of the famed L. E. Bruun Collection with 550 lots for almost 10 million euros. The cumulative prices realized for the L. E. Bruun Collection are now at almost 25 million euros.

Künker ⸱ Auction 419 ⸱ 17. March 2025 ⸱ Osnabrück

On 17 March 2025, Künker held its successful Spring Auction Sale 419. The 638 selected lots with ancient coins had a total estimate of 2 million euros. This sum almost doubled as the auction realized a total hammer price of roughly 4 million euros. We present the top five pieces of Künker’s auction 419 as well as other exciting results.

Gorny & Mosch ⸱ Auction 310 ⸱ 3-5 March 2025 ⸱ Munich

Almost 1200 lots from antiquity to medieval and modern times were successfully sold at Gorny & Mosch’s spring auction. Greek coins and coins from the Roman Empire were particularly popular, achieving exceptionally high hammer prices.

An impressive 10 million euros was the total estimate of Künker’s Berlin Auction Sale featuring 705 lots and kicking off the World Money Fair on 29 January 2025. The total result amounted to roughly 15 million euros – and included 27 lots with six-digit hammer prices!

The Hammersley Collection of exceptional British Milled Sovereigns fetched a hammer price of £274,000 at Noonans Mayfair. Comprising 62 lots, the collection represented the best group of milled sovereigns to be dispersed in London for over a decade.

Stack’s held its first US-Showcase Auction of 2025, featuring a small, but powerful selection of rarities. One highlight was the finest known 1849 Pacific Company $5 gold piece, which sold for $1,260,000 – nearly $500,000 above its previous record.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries recently sold the only known example of an 1870 $2 Dominion of Canada banknote, payable at Victoria. The note, previously considered lost, exceeded presale estimates by far and was sold for $360,000.

Classical Numismatic Group’s Triton XXVIII Auction achieved remarkable success, with rare and important ancient, world, and British coins driving total sales to $12.25 million –more than double the presale estimates. Among the highlights were an “Ides of March” denarius and a stater from Pheneos.

Heritage Auctions ⸱ NYINC Auctions ⸱ 13-22 January 2025 ⸱ New York

The Heritage Auctions held in conjunction with the NYINC achieved a combined total of over $26.5 million. Highlights included a Caligula aureus, which sold for $600,000, and a South African rarity that became the top lot of the auctions, fetching $2.16 million.
