World Money Fair ‘Minting Experience Centre’: Minting up Close!
Visitors to the World Money Fair will learn more about the various production steps involved in minting coins at the world’s largest coin fair: On 100 square meters, the new Minting Experience Center offers an interactive activity area with six exciting stations. Guests can not only experience the creation of a medal up close, but also mint their own unique World Money Fair collector’s medal, designed by the B. H. Mayer art mint, which also produced the dies.
The medal minting process starts at the Welcome Desk, where interested parties receive a blank (round) from Royal Blanking International – a copper-nickel alloy with a diameter of 38.4 mm and a thickness of 2.75 mm. The edge is already slightly compressed and awaits the next steps.
The motif #theplacetobe is embossed onto the edge by stamping an edge lettering on the Schuler machine – a unique touch that makes the medal unmistakable. The medal is then carefully cleaned in the Spaleck machine to create a perfect basis for the subsequent embossing and printing processes.
The heart of the Minting Experience Center is the production process: with a force of 185 tons, the medal is embossed on both sides on a machine of Sack & Kiesselbach Maschinenfabrik GmbH, transforming the blank into a genuine collector’s medal. At the fifth station of Teca-Print AG, the medal is given a further individual accent: the color red is applied to a striking detail of the medal using the pad printing process. The Minting Experience Center is rounded off by Acsys Lasertechnik GmbH, which gives the medal a personal touch with a laser-engraved 4-digit serial number, making the medal a unique limited edition.
he Minting Experience Center is an experience for every collector and newcomer, it will be set up in Convention Hall 2 and will be open on all three days of the fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The World Money Fair 2025 will take place from Thursday, 30 January to Saturday, 1 February 2025 at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin.
