Numismatist Seeks New Position
Dr. Claire Franklin-Werz, known to readers of Coins Weekly for her cartoons and articles on numismatics, is actively seeking a new position following the passing of her long-time employer, Joachim Stollhoff. Claire Franklin (*1978), a British Citizen, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Classics from the University of Reading (First Class Honours), a Masters‘ Degree in Medieval Studies from the University of York, and a PhD from the University of Reading, Studies in the Intellectual Millieu of Posidonius of Apameia (completed 2005). She entered the company Münzen & Medaillen GmbH in Weil am Rhein in 2008 and has since been responsible for the ancient coin department of the company, helping to write and produce auction catalogues 29-51 together with Joachim Stollhoff, as well as installing coins in the company’s online shop with MA Shops, checking coin provenances and writing auction reports and advertising material. She is familiar with much of the standard literature in the field. For a long time she was active at coin fairs, and in recent years she has given a range of talks on numismatic themes in Münster, Basel, Zürich and Hanover among others. In 2021 she published a collection of her cartoons from the MünzenWoche/CoinsWeekly in English and German, and she has just completed an article on the collection of plaster casts of her deceased husband, Ulrich Werz (forthcoming in the Schweizerische numismatische Rundschau/Swiss Numismatic Review).
Claire Franklin-Werz would be willing to take on a new challenge in the field of numismatics, either in the world of commercial numismatics or in a museum environment. She is willing to enhance her skills where necessary. She can be contacted via email. She will be happy to send her CV to you on request.
