Poetic Machines: Swissmint Honors Jean Tinguely
Steel, wheels, movement, order and chaos – Swiss artist Jean Tinguely was fascinated by the poetry of machines, which he captured in his kinetic machine sculptures. To mark what would have been his 100th birthday, Swissmint is honoring the exceptional artist with a silver coin.
Acquisition of a Highly Significant Ensemble for the Coin Cabinet in Vienna
The Kunsthistorisches Museum has acquired 22 coins of the imperial couple Regalianus and Dryantilla and made them digitally accessible. This is all the more impressive considering that only about 160 coins of this imperial couple are known worldwide. These are the only Roman coins that were minted in what is now Austria.

Medieval Coin Hoard Found in the Black Forest
In Southwest Germany, a significant medieval coin hoard was recently discovered, consisting of ca. 1,600 coins from the period around 1320 AD. The coin hoard is said to be the largest one found in South Baden in 75 years.
ANS awards Collier Prize to Moneda Ibérica
For the second time, the American Numismatic Society awarded the Collier Prize to an outstanding book, catalog, or digital work in the field of ancient numismatics. This year, the honor went to Moneda Ibérica, a digital catalog for ancient coins of the Iberian Peninsula.
