Solidus presents Auction 139 with 860 attractive lots. The auction will take place on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, from 15:00 as a live auction on the Auex platform. Bids can already be placed.
The auction contains a comprehensive selection of ancient coins, including numerous attractive Greek and Roman Provincial silver coins. Among the provincial Roman coins, two collections with coins from Alexandria and Caesarea in Cappadocia deserve mention, as well as an impressive series of tetradrachms from the 3rd century. The Roman imperial period is represented with many attractive pieces, and there is a series of beautiful gold coins from late antiquity and Byzantium. There are also rare examples among the coins of the Islamic world. The auction ends with attractive coin groups that are very favourably estimated. Here are some highlights of the auction:

- Lot 699: Byzantine Empire. Philippicus (711–713 A.D.). Solidus, Constantinopolis. Rare. Tiny shallow scratches, otherwise cabinet piece in about mintstate with an excellent portrait. Estimate: 4,000 EUR.

- Lot 799: Transilvania. Sigismund Bathori (1581–1602). Ducat 1582, Hermannstadt (Sibiu/Nagyszeben). Flan minimally wavy, otherwise extremely fine. Estimate: 900 EUR.
Lot 803.
- Lot 803: Seljuqs of Rum. Kayka’us I. (608–616 H. / 1211–1219). Dinar 613 H., Siwas. Of utmost rarity, probably first known item of this type from Siwas. Tiny bumb on the edge, otherwise about extremely fine. Estimate: 3,500 EUR.
