Oslo Myntgalleri Opening Sister Company in Denmark

The auction house Oslo Myntgalleri will open a sister company in Denmark with Michael Märcher as CEO. They will run a traditional coin shop in Aarhus as well as an large online shop.

Michael Märcher (b. 1979) has been employed as a curator and researcher at The Royal Coin and Medal Collection at The National Museum of Denmark 2009-2017. From 2017 to 2022, Michael worked as a coin expert at Bruun Rasmussen Kunstauktioner in Denmark, and from the end of 2022 until June 2024 as “Head of Department for Coins, medals, and banknotes” at Bruun Rasmussen / Bonhams.

Michael has written a large number of books and articles mainly on Danish/Norwegian numismatics. For this, he is the youngest ever to be awarded the Schive medal in silver by the Norwegian Numismatic Association.

With him, Michael will have Gustav Brunsgaard (b. 2002), archeology student with extensive knowledge of coins from around the world 1600-2024 and specialist in medals, as well as Jens Frederiksen (b. 1980) with extensive experience in European coins 1600-1900 e.g. England, Germany and Switzerland, and he is a specialist in Denmark in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Together, these three will after summer start up a large online store, as well as a traditional coin shop in Aarhus, Denmark. They will also accept submissions for Oslo Myntgalleri live auctions in Norway.
