Washington University Presents Seven Numismatic Exhibits

Washington University’s Olin Library announces seven numismatic exhibits that are now open to the public and will run through July 7, 2024. The library features such exhibits on a rotating basis, with recent installations covering the history of play money, World War II internment camp issues, and other subjects. In addition to exhibits, the library’s numismatic mission includes the administration of the Newman Numismatic Portal.

100 Yuan Lion Dance 1995: One of the Rarest Chinese Coins of Our Age

From 13 to 15 May 2024, Heidelberger Münzhandlung will hold its 88th auction sale. Among the highlights are some of the rarest contemporary issues from China, including the 100-yuan Lion Dance coin of 1995. 1,000 specimens should have been minted – but in the end, only 138 were produced.

New Exhibition at the British Museum Presents Recovered Gems

A new exhibition at the British Museum showcases some of the finest ancient gems in the museum’s collection. They include some of the pieces that were recently stolen and could be recovered thanks to the cooperation of coin dealers.
